Zen and the art of meditation

In the  Zen approach,  few Zen masters have the same skill some become known for their gift in utilizing and teaching the reality of Zen to students.

Master Hughes  is an astounding Zen Master with a long list of accomplishments. Few American actually get to study directly under a Zen master.
While their are many fine Buddhist teachers it is the gifted ones that touch and have the ability to enlighten. This is a rare skill even among Zen Buddhists.
Often an individual starts studying Zen after having gone through a traumatic experience, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger that you just can’t kick.
Once you go Zen You never go back.
But you can simply not get Zen by reading books.

Verse 頌曰

大道無門      The Great Way is gateless,

千差有路      Approached in a thousand ways.

透得此關      Once past this checkpoint

乾坤獨歩      You stride through the universe.

Zazen (sitting meditation) is the basic practice of Zen as it provides the easiest conditions in which to experience a heightened state of awareness. Zazen cultivates sensitivity to subtle bodily sensations and connections, as well as to the flow of energy.

To sit  in Zazen well, one must harmonize the mind, body, and breathing. Only when the three are realized as one will it be possible to succeed in stabilizing and tranquilizing the body and mind at the same time. These three things are inseparable from each other.
